Information for Participants

 Welcome

I take great pleasure in welcoming you to this session which brings together Cohort 9 Associates from LEAD Nigeria, LEAD Francophone Africa, LEAD Mexico and LEAD Brazil.  I hope you will find our selection of venue satisfactory

 Accommodation

 In keeping with LEAD tradition, associates will be sharing rooms.  We hope you will find the modest facilities adequate to make your stay enjoyable.  We are grateful to the management of IITA Hotel for charging us concessional “delegate day rate”.

 Meals

All meals will be provided by the hotel in the dining hall.  You are entitled to one non-alcoholic drink with your Lunch and Dinner.  Those with dietary restrictions should inform the secretariat.

Telephones/Laundry/Bar

To make international calls, you have to go through the operator.  You are to settle such bills, as well as laundry, bar and other incidential expenses.

 Currency

 The local currency is the Naira which comes in denominations of  N500, N200, N100, N50, N20,  N10, and N5 and coins of N1 and 50k.  The exchange rate is about N111.70 to the US Dollar.  The hotel also accepts payments in US Dollars; Mastercard Credit Card, and Traveller’s Cheques, (American Express and Thomas Cook).

 Weather

 Ibadan is located in the Tropical Rain Forest with a fairly hot and humid weather.  The average temperature is about 30oc.  There may be occasional showers, and  harmattan winds could set-in in the evening and early in the morning.  It is advisable that dressing should be light and casual especially in the afternoons.

 Security:

 Like in any country, security is of paramount importance.  Associates and other members of LEAD staff are advised to keep to the hotel/venue of the session and should not move about outside the Institute without escort. 
The venue of the session is very secure and members are advised to keep, as much as possible, to the IITA campus which is as large as a small town.
Under no condition should any member of the team go out of the Institute at night unless accompanied by the host team.

 Safety of Valuable Items

 Leave your valueables in the safe deposit box in the reception. 

 Have a nice and productive stay.
