WORLD SUMMIT ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT (WSSD)

LEAD-Nigeria was requested by the Federal Ministry of Environment, Abuja, Nigeria to take part in the Preparatory Process of WSSD. We took part in the development of the Nigerian National Document on Sustainable Development in Nigeria.

A National Stakeholders Forum was also organized by the Government of Nigeria for the Rio+10 and preparations for WSSD where the National Programme Director, LEAD-Nigeria presented a paper on “Implementation Stategies for future Sustainable Development in Nigeria” Mrs. C. Owolabi, LEAD-Nigeria Cohort 1 Fellow was elected as the Coordinator of the frorum. Professor A. M. A. imevbore, a member of the Board of LEAD-Nigeria served as the Chief Consultant on the implementation Stategies. Other members of the LEAD family who participated in the forum are:

The National Programme Director, LEAD-Nigeria was appointed by the African Civil Society Organization to lead and 11-Member Delegation of the Civil Society Organization  in Nigeria to the Johannesburg Summit where he also made a presentation on behalf of the ASCO.
