Chief Edet Amana is an
accomplished professional, an astute businessman, distinguished
academic and intellectual, humanitarian and philanthropist, urbane
and cosmopolitan in outlook, compassionate, and morally anchored in
all his doings.
Chief Amana had his
secondary school education at the Methodist College Uzuakoli and the
higher school certificate at the King’s College, Lagos with
brilliant records. He graduated B.Sc. Engineering Degree First
Class Honors (top of the First Class Honors list) from Imperial
College of the University of London (1963), and Ph.D. in Civil
Engineering from the same University (1966). Driven by the desire
to always be the best, Chief Amana carried his commitment to
excellence into the practice of his engineering profession earning
the recognition and commendation of his colleagues through the award
of the Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE).
Chief Aman’s competence as
manager of human and material resources is demonstrated in his
ability to single-handedly nurture his small Amana Consulting
Engineers started in 1972 into the giant conglomerate, the Amana
Group of Companies with business connections in South Africa,
Europe, USA, South-East Asia, Japan and Latin America. He had been
Chairman of the Boards of many Federal and State Parastatals and
Agencies. He has been one of the highly recognized motivators and
benefactors of several local communities in Nigeria in the vast
rural hinterland in his quest for true development, and has awarded
over 2000 scholarships to deserving students in tertiary
institutions. His establishment of academic prizes and endowment of
Chairs in several institution of learning testify to his firm belief
in qualitative education in Nigeria.
Chief Amana’s political
consciousness was forged in the atmosphere of the great hopes and
expectations of the struggle for national independence and his
vision of Nigeria is that of a country whose vast human and material
resources are transformed by deliberate acts of political and social
engineering into concrete realities that could benefit the vast
majority of Nigerians.
Chief Amana has traveled to
many parts of the world. He is married with children. |
