Samuel Abiola ADENEKAN is a Fellow of Cohort 3 (Nigeria) and was elected to LEAD International Board of Directors in 1998.  Dr. Adenekan is presently the Corporate Relations Manager of Nestle Nigeria Plc. where he coordinates Environmental Management Programmes, Media Relations, Government Relations, Community Relations, Shareholders and Investor Relations and Employee Communications.  Prior to his position with Nestle, he worked as Manager, Press Relations and Public Affairs with the UAC of Nigeria, a former subsidiary of Unilever International.

Samuel Abiola Adenekan holds a Doctorate Degree in Communication and Language Arts, of the University of Ibadan, Nigeria (with specialization in development and environmental communication).  His dissertation examined factors affecting gate-keeping of environmental news in Nigerian newspapers.  He received his Masters Degree in Mass Communication from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

On the basis of the effectiveness of the ‘Greening the Supply Chain Programme’ which he pivoted,  and in recognition of his organization’s effort to integrate eco-efficiency into business strategy, Nestle was honored with the Most Environmentally Proactive Industry Award in Nigeria in June 2004.  Dr. Adenekan represented Nestle at the 27th Special Session of the UN General Assembly on Children in New York.  He collaborated with the Confederation of the Food and Drink Industries of the European Union in preparing the Food Industry Report for the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Dr. Adenekan is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and several other professional organizations including, the International Public Relations Association, Canadian Public Relations Society, Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology, Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria, Nigerian Institute of Marketing, and the Nigerian Institute of Management.  In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the public relations practice in Nigeria, he received a Presidential Award for Excellence in 1994 and was also voted as the Most Outstanding Public Relations Professional in Nigeria in 1996.    

Dr. Adenekan is concerned with industrial pollution and waste recycling and sees environmental auditing and effective environmental communication as key to monitoring corporate practices and raising environmental awareness.

He is listed in Who’s Who in the 21st Century.  He is also a member of the Research Board of Advisors of the American Biographical Institute, North Carolina, USA.
